My wife and I were considering an investment in a complex financial instrument. Preliminary discussions between the investment provider, our investment advisor and us made it clear the review would not be productive via telephone conferencing. We would need to meet face to face for a half-day meeting. The problem was that we did not want to spend he 3 days required to meet, including 2 days to travel round trip plus another day for the actual meeting. Our advisor proposed that we conduct the meeting via Video Conferencing. My wife and I could travel to the facility, meet and drive home in a total of 4 hours. The meeting was held and information was presented in a concise manner. In fact, preparation was more focused in view of the medium. We were very pleased. Two days of travel saved and the meeting was conducted “face to face”. In view of the cost of travel, I would recommend video conferencing as an effective replacement for long distance travel.
